Start the written lesson

Before you start

  • A practice site and permission for the task.
  • Administrator access for History.
  • A known test change and a separate site backup.

Let’s do this, step by step.

Step 01

Find the recorded session

Open Safety → History. Use Search changes, kind, Client and Time range filters. Expand the session containing your test change.

History now groups changes by client session or AI Chat conversation. Find the exact practice change and read its target before undoing anything.

Step 02

View the difference

Choose View difference on the row. It compares the saved before-state with the target’s current state, not a frozen after-state.

Check what is there now. If somebody edited it again, the difference includes that later work too. Read it before deciding to restore an older version.

Step 03

Undo a test change or session

Use Undo for one eligible practice change. Undo whole session runs newest first and stops at the first failure; earlier successful undos remain applied. Inspect a conflict before choosing Undo anyway.

Start with one test change. A whole-session undo works backwards and can stop partway through. If it stops, check what already changed. Undo anyway can overwrite newer work and cannot repair a missing recovery record.

Step 04

Export a content mirror

Export one Elementor page and list its saved mirror file. Keep external versions with your own version-control process if needed.

The mirror writes files; EMCP does not commit them to Git. Auto-export updates the mirror, so older versions need separate storage.

Step 05

Restore the intended version

Prepare the intended mirror version and restore that page's content, then check its saved structure and preview.

A mirror covers page content, not an entire site. Native builder revisions, History, and full backups are different recovery tools.

Step 06

Keep the recovery record

Choose the appropriate Retention period, from 30 to 365 days. Do not use Delete from History or Clear history as an undo: they remove recovery records without reverting the site.

Expired or deleted records can no longer be used for undo. Clearing the list does not undo site changes. Keep full backups for broader recovery.

You’re done when…

The chosen recovery restores the intended state and does not silently overwrite later edits.
