The differences that matter

EMCP vs Elementor MCP: side by side

This is a dated product snapshot, not a performance benchmark. For the official column, see Elementor’s current product page. EMCP details follow our Elementor tool overview and Free vs Pro matrix, updated on 25 September. EMCP tool counts follow the shared site catalog and vary with installed integrations.

What is official Elementor MCP?

Elementor’s official MCP connects external AI clients to native, editable Elementor structures through WordPress AI Abilities. Its current product page describes Atomic page creation and editing, classes and variables, responsive settings, theme parts, components, and dynamic content.

The current official setup guide lists WordPress 6.8+ and Elementor Core and Pro 4.3.0+. Open Elementor → Elementor MCP, enable the connection, select your AI client, and generate its setup prompt. Setup is per site and admin-only; the prompt includes an Application Password.

Check the requirements before installing: the setup guide lists both Core and Pro, while the product FAQ describes basic features as free and Pro elements as requiring a Pro plan. These official pages are not fully aligned. Confirm compatibility for your installation; the former beta-channel setup is not presented here as a current requirement.

Generated work is saved as drafts. If the visual editor and AI modify the same page, Elementor reports a conflict and offers refresh or discard options. That makes the official workflow worth evaluating when your goal is an Atomic-first workflow with a visual-editor handoff.

Basic sections and features follow Elementor’s free offering; Pro elements need Elementor Pro. Your AI provider bills its own usage separately. Broader abilities have an additional Angie dependency, explained below.

What EMCP Tools offers

EMCP Tools is a standalone WordPress plugin that exposes Elementor and wider WordPress operations to MCP clients. It runs on your server and saves page changes through Elementor’s document pipeline. Core page building works with free Elementor 3.20+, without opting into Elementor’s beta channel.

The EMCP Elementor catalog covers widgets, containers, templates, global styles, and supported Atomic Elements and Global Classes on Elementor 4.0+. When Elementor Pro is installed, its widgets become available. Check the catalog and your installed editor version for the structures you intend to edit.

In the current EMCP catalog, Free includes up to 225 tools and Pro up to 552. WordPress domains include content, plugins, themes, media, users, files, and database operations. Pro adds workflows such as premium prompts and templates, Project Memory, and custom widget/block building in the Sandbox. The feature matrix lists the exact tier boundaries.

Calls are checked against the connected WordPress user’s capabilities. Sensitive writes require opt-in, risky actions have confirmation gates, and Elementor revisions support review and recovery. These controls govern what an agent can do; they are not a blanket promise about every tool’s publishing status. Our WordPress MCP security guide explains authentication, tool access, and reviewing your first change.

For the infrastructure behind EMCP, see WordPress MCP Adapter vs EMCP: the protocol bridge and the tool catalog have different responsibilities.

The direct MCP endpoint lives on your domain. Self-hosting describes where tools execute and WordPress content is stored; information returned to an AI client is still subject to that client and model provider’s data handling. See how EMCP works before choosing your connection.

Guidance for your AI agent

Curated skills for creating Elementor pages

EMCP also provides curated Agent Skills: reusable playbooks that guide an AI agent through specific jobs. The Elementor page-building skill, emcp-skills, includes 10 industry knowledge packs covering businesses such as dental clinics, restaurants, real estate, and photography. These bring together relevant brand kits, sample prompts, and templates to guide the page’s content and styling.

Download the bundle from EMCP Tools → Skills and install it in your AI client, or let a connected agent discover and load the playbooks through Pro’s runtime skills tools. The skills provide workflow guidance alongside the MCP tools that make changes to your site. See the Agent Skills guide for installation and runtime requirements.

Atomic Elements, V3, and real client sites

An existing Elementor site rarely starts with a blank canvas. It may have years of widgets, templates, integrations, and client editing habits. Matching MCP tools to those structures matters more than the assistant’s name.

In its 11 September agency workflow report, Webgate describes keeping existing V3 structures while adding new Atomic sections on its own site. It also reports Cloudflare interference with authenticated REST requests and flags Wordfence or hosting firewalls as possible connection blockers. This is one agency’s experience, not an EMCP endorsement or a guarantee for every installation.

That coexistence does not establish that official MCP edits every classic page. Elementor’s current product page supports Atomic layouts and lists Widget (V3) support as coming soon. EMCP’s widget and Atomic support should also be checked against the actual document you want to change.

A useful first test

Pick one staging page. Ask for a draft using your existing styles, inspect it in Elementor, and check desktop and mobile output. Review authentication and firewall logs if connecting fails. Keep final publishing an explicit step in your workflow.

Angie vs a standalone MCP plugin

Angie is Elementor’s agentic WordPress plugin. It is not listed as a requirement for every official MCP feature. In the current product page, Elementor marks three broader groups as requiring Angie:

  • Custom widgets and personalized WordPress admin experiences.
  • Content management, debugging, and maintenance.
  • Access to other capabilities registered with the WordPress Abilities API.

EMCP exposes its own Elementor and WordPress tools without that Angie dependency. The distinction is about the tool server and jobs it supports: a first-party Atomic workflow with Angie for those broader groups, or an independent MCP plugin with its own WordPress catalog. You can keep the same external AI client while evaluating either approach.

Elementor AI, Angie, or an external AI client?

Start with where you want to work. These products have different roles, even when their features overlap. This subsection was reviewed on 26 September 2026; the broader comparison above retains its separate review date.

Choose the interface, then check its dependencies
Product or roleWhere you work and what it doesSetup and usage
Elementor AIAI controls for generating or editing content, images and layouts within Elementor workflows.Elementor account and the applicable AI access/credits. Some editor features require Pro. See the Elementor AI product page.
AngieAn assistant in WordPress admin and the Elementor editor for multi-step site, content and code tasks.A separate plugin and Elementor account; Elementor is not required for all Angie work. Its current FAQ lists a free plan with daily credits. Check current entitlements before planning usage.
Official Elementor MCPA server connection that exposes Elementor abilities to an external client.Follow the current MCP setup requirements. The free/Pro discrepancy described above still matters. Some broader abilities require Angie.
External client + EMCPYou prompt in a client such as Cursor or Claude; EMCP supplies tools that execute inside WordPress.Install EMCP and authenticate the client. Tool availability depends on tier, permissions and integrations. The client/model subscription is separate from EMCP licensing.

For generation inside Elementor controls, evaluate Elementor AI. For an assistant within WordPress, evaluate Angie's documented workflow. For an existing external-client workflow, compare the MCP servers above, then use the Cursor guide or Claude connection guide. An AI subscription does not automatically grant a separate plugin license.

Make the comparison concrete

Try the same task on staging.

A small test tells you more than matching tool names or counting integrations.

Read
“List my five most recent pages with their status and last edited date. Do not change anything.”
Shows whether each product can read your site accurately, without writing.
Build
“Build a landing page for a cooking school’s autumn workshop: a hero with a booking button, three benefits, and an FAQ with three questions. Leave it as a draft.”
Shows how each product builds a page you can still edit in your builder.

Then check these on both

  1. 1Step 1

Send the same draft request through each server on a staging page, using an account with the same WordPress role.

  2. 2Step 2

Open each draft in Elementor and check the result stays editable on the editor version that server supports.

  3. 3Step 3

Revert each change, with Elementor revisions or EMCP History, and confirm the page matches its earlier state.

Common questions

Does EMCP include curated skills for building Elementor pages?

Yes. EMCP’s curated Agent Skills include emcp-skills, a page-building playbook with 10 industry knowledge packs. These connect relevant brand kits, sample prompts, and templates to the page-building workflow. Install the bundle in your AI client from EMCP Tools → Skills, or use Pro runtime skill loading over MCP. See the Agent Skills documentation for setup and availability.

How do the setup requirements differ?

EMCP supports core page building with free Elementor 3.20+. The current official setup guide uses Elementor → Elementor MCP and lists WordPress 6.8+ and Elementor Core and Pro 4.3.0+. Its product FAQ also describes basic features as free. Check those current requirements for your installation; this comparison does not treat the former beta-channel setup as a current requirement.

Do I need the Atomic Editor for Elementor MCP?

As reviewed on 25 September 2026, official Elementor MCP supports Atomic layouts and lists Widget (V3) support as coming soon. EMCP offers widget and container tools as well as Atomic Elements and Global Classes on Elementor 4.0+. Check the installed version and document structure before choosing tools.

Does Elementor MCP require Angie?

Not for every feature. Elementor’s announcement marks custom widgets/admin experiences, content management/debugging/maintenance, and access to other registered WordPress abilities as Angie-dependent. Its core Atomic page-building capabilities are listed separately. EMCP’s own Elementor and WordPress tools do not require Angie.

Do I need Elementor Pro or EMCP Pro?

EMCP’s core page-building tools work with free Elementor. Elementor Pro widgets require Elementor Pro to be installed, whichever MCP route you choose. EMCP Pro is a separate, optional license for additional EMCP tools and workflows; it does not include an Elementor Pro license.

Does Elementor MCP publish pages automatically?

Elementor’s current product page says generated work is saved as drafts. For EMCP, this comparison does not assert a universal publishing default: check the selected tool and requested page status. Capability checks and confirmation gates govern access; they do not replace checking whether a page is a draft.

Can I use Claude, Codex, or Cursor with either option?

Yes. Elementor explicitly lists these clients, and EMCP connects to MCP-compatible clients. The client overlap lets you evaluate the server’s editor support and WordPress scope without choosing a different AI assistant. Your client or model provider’s usage charges remain separate.

Can I run EMCP and Elementor MCP on the same site?

Yes. Since EMCP 3.18.0 both servers run side by side on the same site. EMCP’s Elementor tools follow the same rule as Elementor’s own server: a write to a page another user has open with unsaved changes is refused. When Elementor’s server is on, EMCP also tells a connected agent which server to use for which job.

Try one page first

Start with a draft on staging.

Install EMCP Free, connect your preferred client, and build one draft Elementor page. Use the result to evaluate editing, review, and handoff on your own site.
