Which edition should I install?

Install EMCP Lite from WordPress.org if you want a plugin from the official directory, with updates through WordPress and no tools that run code or touch files. Install EMCP Tools from GitHub if you want every free tool (244), including file, database, WP-CLI and plugin management tools. Both are free under GPL-2.0-or-later.

Can I run both editions on one site?

Activate only one EMCP edition at a time. EMCP Lite pauses itself when another edition is active.

Can I switch from one edition to the other later?

Yes. Deactivate the edition you have, then install and activate the other. Your content, Themer layouts, brand kits and History stay on the site, because uninstalling either edition never deletes them. Reconnect your AI clients afterwards and review the Tools screen.

Why does EMCP Lite have fewer tools?

WordPress.org does not accept plugins that run arbitrary code or work as a file manager. EMCP Lite leaves out the tools that execute PHP, CSS or JavaScript, read or write files, run SQL or WP-CLI, install plugins or themes, manage users or change site settings. Everything else works the same way.

How do updates work?

EMCP Lite updates from WordPress.org like any directory plugin. EMCP Tools from GitHub shows updates in your dashboard from GitHub releases, and supports auto-updates. EMCP Pro updates through your licence.

Do I need anything else?

Both editions need WordPress 6.9 or later and PHP 8.1 or later. Elementor is optional: it is needed only for the Elementor tools. EMCP Lite uses the free MCP Adapter plugin from WordPress.org and installs it for you in one click.
