Start the written lesson

Before you start

  • Access to the affected site and AI connection.
  • A redacted copy of the exact error.

Let’s do this, step by step.

Step 01

Reconnect once

Record the error, reconnect the client, and retry one read-only request.

A session can expire or be lost. Start with a clean connection instead of repeating a write that may already have completed.

Step 02

Check the local process

For WP-CLI, verify the real site path, WordPress username, EMCP activation, and that mcp-adapter list finds the server.

The adapter is bundled with EMCP. Check that installation and how WP-CLI loads it before installing another plugin.

Step 03

Use the supported proxy route

If the app cannot maintain the HTTP session, use its documented Node proxy configuration on the client computer.

The proxy handles the session exchange. Its local file must exist beside the AI client, not only on the remote WordPress host.

Step 04

Inspect a server error

For a 500 error, inspect a private PHP log with public error display disabled. Reproduce the smallest failing read.

Keep credentials and private content out of the log excerpt. Check the actual failing operation before assuming the whole server is down.

Step 05

Verify safely

List pages after reconnecting. For a prior timed-out write, inspect the target before attempting it again.

A timeout does not guarantee nothing was saved. Read WordPress first to avoid duplicate pages or repeated actions.

Step 06

Inspect the failed request

Open Safety → MCP Log, filter Errors, and use Show more on the matching time. Inspect stage, session and failure reason. Copy request ID for support, with secrets and connection identifiers redacted.

The log can show whether initialization failed or a later call lost its session. Match the time to your app’s error, then share the request ID and a redacted explanation if you need support.

You’re done when…

A fresh session completes a read and any uncertain earlier write has been checked.
