Start the written lesson

Before you start

  • A practice site and permission for the task.
  • A supported client and Node proxy.
  • A separate Application Password for each site.

Let’s do this, step by step.

Step 01

Create credentials for each site

On each site, use Connection → MCP to choose a client, Application password in Step 2 and Create password in Step 3, or use Users → Profile. The wizard only generates single-site configurations; build the multi-site registry separately.

Prepare a separate application password for each intended site. The connection wizard sets up one site at a time. Keep the credentials private while you build the multi-site list.

Step 02

Prepare named site entries

Create a private EMCP_SITES registry or an EMCP_SITES_FILE with each alias, URL, username, and Application Password.

Use clear names such as client-staging. The registry contains credentials, so keep it out of shared project repositories and recordings.

Step 03

Choose the default

Set EMCP_DEFAULT_SITE to the intended starting alias and launch the proxy with the registry.

The default decides where a new session starts. It is still worth checking the site before every editing task.

Step 04

List and switch

Ask the AI to list configured sites, then switch to the intended alias with emcp_use_site.

The local proxy keeps an active site for the session. Reconfirm the actual URL after switching.

Step 05

Use one-call routing when appropriate

For one lookup on another site, pass its site alias on that call without switching the session default.

A one-call target avoids changing where later work goes. State the intended site explicitly in your request.

Step 06

Verify separate sites

Read a known page from each practice site and compare URLs as well as IDs.

The same page number can exist on different sites. Check both identity and page ID before allowing a write.

You’re done when…

The agent reads the correct records from two distinct named sites.
