What you need.

EMCP is a standard WordPress plugin: activate it like any other. Requirements are minimal:

  • WordPress 6.9+: the Abilities API is in core.
  • PHP 8.1+: the MCP Adapter ships bundled with the plugin.
  • Elementor (optional): 3.20+ for Elementor page-building tools. Other integrations need their own supported plugins or themes.
  • An MCP client: Claude Desktop, Claude Code, Cursor, Antigravity, VS Code, and more.

Setup

Install and connect in a few steps.

No build step, no external service. Four steps from download to your first prompt.

  1. Install & activate

    Download the release zip from GitHub, then upload it in WordPress under Plugins → Add New → Upload Plugin. Free installs receive in-dashboard updates from GitHub.

  2. Enable the server

    Open EMCP Tools → Connection for your server URL at /wp-json/mcp/emcp-tools-server and ready-to-copy client configurations.

  3. Connect your client

    WP-CLI stdio for local dev, or HTTP with an Application Password or one-click OAuth for a live site.

  4. Prompt

    Ask your AI to build a page or manage content. Every call is capability-checked against your user.

What it adds

509 tools, one plugin.

Once active, your AI can call tools across Elementor, Gutenberg, content, plugins and themes, users, media, the database, the filesystem, performance and security, redirect management, Kadence/Astra theme settings, and plugin integrations. Reads are on by default; sensitive writes stay off until you opt in.

Free includes up to 217 tools; EMCP Pro expands the catalog to up to 509, including additional integrations and AI workflows. Your installed plugins and enabled modules determine which tools appear. Optional hosted services have their own EMCP Cloud plans and limits.

For local development, use the built-in WP-CLI stdio bridge. For a remote site, generate a WordPress Application Password (or sign in with OAuth) and point your client at the HTTP endpoint or the bundled Node proxy. Ready-made configs are on the Connection screen.
Free installs update in the WordPress dashboard directly from GitHub releases, so you see "update available" like any plugin and can one-click update or enable auto-updates. Pro installs update through Freemius.
