Before we chat

MSR Builds processes your question and up to four recent messages on our server to answer from the EMCP docs. AI is optional and needs your separate permission.

The chat is kept in this page's memory, not saved as a conversation in our database or browser storage. Our hosting and security services process connection information, such as your IP address, to prevent abuse.

Cloudflare Turnstile checks your browser and connection to prevent automated abuse when you send a question. No login is required.

EMCP editions

EMCP comes in three editions. All three connect Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor and other MCP clients to your WordPress site, and all three use the same admin screens: Dashboard, Connection, Tools, History, MCP Log and Modules.

EMCP Lite (WordPress.org)

EMCP Lite (version 1.0.5) is the edition on the WordPress.org plugin directory. Install it from Plugins → Add New by searching for EMCP Lite. It needs the free MCP Adapter plugin, which it installs and activates for you in one click.

WordPress.org does not accept plugins that run arbitrary code or work as a file manager, so EMCP Lite leaves out these tools:

  • Code: PHP Snippets, custom CSS and JavaScript (add-custom-css, add-custom-js, add-code-snippet, list-code-snippets) and Themer PHP templates. Writes that carry scripts, styles or PHP in content are refused.
  • Files: read-file, list-directory, search-files, write-file, edit-file, delete-file.
  • Database: the read-only query tool and the row writes insert-row, update-rows, delete-rows. list-tables and describe-table are included.
  • WP-CLI: run-wp-cli, dispatch-wp-cli, get-wp-cli-job, list-wp-cli-jobs.
  • Plugins and themes: installing, activating, deactivating, updating, deleting and switching. Listing and searching are included.
  • Users and settings: create-user, update-user, update-settings and theme-write (theme mods and child themes). Reading users, settings and the active theme is included.
  • EMCP Cloud: backups, pulls, Safe Updates, configuration deployment, Marketplace installs and Sandbox import/export. Cloud status and settings sync are included.
  • Newer tools: the taxonomy term tools and GeneratePress settings, added to EMCP Tools after EMCP Lite 1.0.5 was built.

Everything else matches EMCP Tools: content, menus, media and stock photos, Elementor and Elementor 4 atomic elements, Gutenberg blocks with Spectra and Kadence Blocks, EMCP Themer, History with undo, Redirects, Content Search, Content Mirror, the performance and security scans, and the ACF, Meta Box, Contact Form 7, Slim SEO, Visibility, Astra, Kadence, Redirection, Custom Post Type UI, Pods, WP Mail SMTP, LiteSpeed Cache and Wordfence integrations.

EMCP Tools (GitHub)

EMCP Tools is the full free plugin. Download emcp-tools-<version>.zip from GitHub releases and upload it on Plugins → Add New → Upload Plugin. See Installation.

It has every free tool, including the file, database, WP-CLI, plugin and theme management, user and settings tools listed above. Those tools ship switched off: turn on the ones you want on EMCP Tools → Tools.

EMCP Pro

Pro adds WooCommerce, more forms, SEO, LMS, events and email marketing integrations, more builders and block packs, AI Chat, the Widget and Block Builders, Backup and Migrate, Project Memory and the premium prompt and template libraries. Compare it with the free editions on Free vs Pro.

Running more than one edition

Activate only one EMCP edition at a time. EMCP Lite pauses itself when another edition is active, and Pro deactivates the free plugin from GitHub when you activate it.

To switch editions, deactivate the one you have, then install and activate the other. Uninstalling an edition never deletes your content, Themer layouts, brand kits or History. Reconnect your AI clients afterwards and review the Tools screen.

Some pages in these docs describe tools that EMCP Lite does not include. The lists above say which.
